Social Committee Charter

The Lakeport Social Committee shall work with the Board of Directors to encourage a sense of community in Lakeport. 

Membership: 

  1. The Social Committee shall have a chair appointed by the Board.  
  2. A Board member shall be designated as the committee’s point of contact and serve as a member of the Social Committee. 
  3. The committee, shall have at least two members, including the Board point of contact. In addition to regular members of the committee, the chair may recruit coordinators and ad hoc groups to work on various social events. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Welcome new owners and renters with a welcome note that includes a flyer about Lakeport and Safeway gift cards for new owners (purchaser will be reimbursed).
  2. Arrange for community-wide events, for example,
    • Occasional TGIF gatherings 
    • Easter Egg Hunt 
    • A community-wide dock party 
    • A Halloween parade, group firepits, and trick-or-treating
    • Community holiday light celebrations
    • Other events that can be one-time affairs or become new traditions
  3. Recruit hosts for TGIFs, the “Head Easter Bunny” to oversee the Easter Egg Hunt, and volunteers to help with the dock party and other events. 
  4. Arrange for announcements and reminders to be sent for all events. Write articles for Ripples about upcoming social events and report on prior ones. Take photos to include in the articles. 
  5. Promote other gatherings of neighbors (e.g., firepits, progressive dinners, popcorn Wednesdays, boat outings)
